Shop Consignment in the Upper Valley & Update Your Spring Wardrobe

Apr 27, 2015 12:51PM, Published by Victoria Pipas, Categories: Life+Leisure, Today Shopping

This spring, you may find yourself short on cash, but you can still update your summer wardrobe, and do it in an environmentally friendly way. In fact, it’s easier than ever to revamp your style and clean out for spring! Just visit one of these consignment stores nearby in the Upper Valley. You’ll find new or gently used clothes, and you can consign those items you no longer wear—and earn store credit for the items you sell! Be aware that many consignment stores require personal appointments to consign your items; you can’t just show up with your stuff. Check out each store’s website for details about what you can and can’t consign, and read on to learn what you can expect to find in each store.

The Pink Alligator. This preppy consignment store carries new and used clothing from designer-label brands like Ralph Lauren, J Crew, Lilly, Talbots, Calvin Klein, and others. It’s great if you’re just browsing for basics like work-friendly khakis, polos, cardigans, or button-downs. You’re also likely to find that perfect summer dress, a half-off winter coat, a pair of gently used heels, and maybe even a designer accessory. The Pink Alligator has a charming setup; the pink- and green-adorned store is filled with rows of clothes organized by color. Most items are about half the price you would expect to pay in any of the shops mentioned above. So when you find that item at the Pink Alligator, it’s generally a great buy. In addition, this store now offers men’s clothing, so guys should check out the offerings too. The Pink Alligator is located behind the Nugget Theater in Hanover, New Hampshire. Check out their website to set up a consignment appointment or browse the new online store.

Revolution. This is not your everyday consignment store; Revolution offers a “radical shopping experience.” Located in White River Junction, Vermont, the store carries vintage, modern, designer, and handcrafted clothing, some even made locally. It has just about everything, from vintage silk scarves to recycled wool sweaters to inexpensive Marc Jacobs dresses. Shopping at Revolution is truly an experience; the spirit of the store is part retro, part hipster, part NYC. Give yourself plenty of time and don’t be surprised if you end up shopping for hours; you might even be offered a cappuccino by one of Revolution’s friendly staff. The store’s productions, including in-store displays and artwork as well as frequent fashion shows, are true works of art. Revolution knows how to offer the best of the best, in the most inspired combinations. Visit their website for great slideshows of Revolution looks and more information about the store.

Camille’s Experienced Clothing. Although not strictly in the Upper Valley, this nearby option in Rutland, Vermont, offers a great selection of resale items, as well as very flexible options for you as a consigner. Designer brands are sorted by color here and include name brands such as the Loft, Banana Republic, Coach, Coldwater Creek, and more. Spring/summer items are accepted from February through June, Monday through Saturday from 2 to 4pm. This ensures that shoppers will find new offerings in stock on a weekly, if not daily, basis. You’ll never get bored shopping at Camille’s. For more information, visit the website.
