Glazed Lemon and Poppy Seed Popcorn

Create Your Own Popcorn Snack
Popcorn is a true farm-to-table snack because it’s a seed taken from the husk, dried, then popped. Delicious hot from the popper, popcorn is also easy to flavor with just about any seasonings you have on hand. Whether you want a pinch of sugar and cinnamon, garlic powder and oregano, or parmesan cheese and rosemary — the options are limitless. For recipes and more, visit www.popcorn.org.

Glazed Lemon and Poppy Seed Popcorn
Yield: 4 quarts

  • 4          quarts unbuttered and unsalted popcorn (air popped)
  • 1          egg white
  • 1/4       cup sugar
  • 1/4       teaspoon salt
  • 1/4       teaspoon lemon extract
  • 2          teaspoons lemon zest
  • 1          teaspoon poppy seeds
  1. Heat oven to 300°F. Line large, rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper (or foil sprayed with cooking spray). Spread popcorn onto prepared baking sheet.

  2. In small bowl, whisk together egg white, sugar, salt and lemon extract until foamy. Mix in lemon zest and poppy seeds. Pour over popcorn and toss to coat evenly.

  3. Bake 20 minutes, stirring once midway through baking time. Cool completely before storing in airtight container.

Note: The use of egg white helps flavors adhere to popcorn, without adding fat through more traditional use of oils
