Pumpkins, Apple Picking & Corn Mazes! Your Guide to Enjoying Fall in the Upper Valley

A fall tradition many partake in when fall rolls around is Apple Picking! Poverty Lane Orchards is now open for picking season. Not only are there several varieties of apples you can also purchase freshly made apple cider, as well as sample different types of Cider. Grab a bag and head on out to the orchards and get yourself a big pile of apples perfect for an apple pie. The Orchard is open Monday through Friday 9am-6pm Weekend times will vary.
Haunted Acres Haunted House
Voted #1 in New England Haunted Acres is a village with several places to hide and get scared. As part of the huge, 46-acre Area 52 facility includes woods that are so dark and impenetrable that even the guards were afraid to enter. Some of the most seriously deranged residents of Area 52 escaped into those woods in hopes of escaping capture. In these woods they still roam. If you are brave enough to venture into the darkness, we suggest that you bring running shoes. Open Fridays & Saturdays 7pm-11pm tickets are $25.00 at the gate and $23.00 online.
Haunted Corn Maze
is sure to do just that. Not only do they do haunted corn mazes, they also have haunted hay rides, and a regular non-scary corn maze for those you who are not interested in getting spooked. Admission is $9.00 and is open October 9,10,16,17,23,24, 30,31 from 6:30pm-10pm.
Voted in the top 10 of fun fall events to attend Harvest Weekend at Billings Farm & Museum Each day a traditional husking bee will begin at 12:30 p.m., followed by a barn dance from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Lend a hand pressing cider, preserving apples, threshing grain, and making butter and ice cream. Harvesting the heirloom vegetable garden will be nearing completion and children can help dig potatoes and other root crops and learn how crops are “put up” for the winter. Other activities include: shelling beans, fence building, apples-on-a-string, and 19th century games. Hot-spiced cider and homemade doughnuts will be on hand for all! Admission includes all programs and activities. Admission: adults: $14.00; 62 and over: $13.00; children 5-15: $8.00; 3-4: $4.00; under 3: free. This event takes place October 10th-11th.
Halloween Event for the Family at Billings Farm
Fun for the whole family! Head on over to Billings Farm for A Family Halloween Event.
Pumpkin carving, doughnuts-on-a-string, wagon rides, cranking pumpkin ice cream, plus “not-too-scary” Halloween stories, pumpkin games, and animal programs will be featured. Costume parades around the farm field will be held at 12:00 & 2:00 p.m., will be led by the Billings Farm's friendly South down sheep, and all children will receive a ribbon. October 25th 10am-5pm.
