NHOS Hosts Annual Show and Sale This Weekend in Nashua

Feb 08, 2018 05:36PM ● By Linda Ditch
If the cold and snow are starting to get to you, consider a visit to the New Hampshire Orchid Society’s 27th Annual Orchid Show and Sale. Not only can you check out the many different varieties of this amazing tropical plant—you can even take a few pots home with you! The show starts Friday, February 9 and lasts through Sunday, February 11.

The NHOS is one of the largest orchid societies of its kind in New England. Organized in 1983, it currently boasts more than 200 members. The society holds monthly meetings and other special events, in addition to the annual show and sale, to provide opportunities for members to learn more about orchids.

Each day of the show, visitors can take a guided tour of the plants. There will also be educational programs throughout the day on Saturday and Sunday. If you’re an orchid newbie, you can learn what you need to know to care for these beautiful plants. If orchids are already a part of your home décor, this is your chance to learn about new varieties. And if you just want to see something to remind you that spring will come eventually, this is a great place to be!

Eight orchid societies will have exhibits. Vendors, including orchid growers, florists, and artists, will also have exhibits. Orchids will be for sale at the show too, with vendors coming from as far away as Taiwan and Ecuador. Other vendors will offer supplies needed for orchid care as well as artwork, photographs, and pottery.

The show will be held at the Courtyard Marriott in Nashua. Admission is $10 for adults, $8 for seniors 65 and over, and free for children under 12. You can also buy a three-day pass for $15.

Ticket information and show times are available on the New Hampshire Orchid Society’s website at www.nhorchids.org
