Amanda and Jill Metivier of Steve’s Bait Shop in North Hartland have taken over ownership of Stern's Quality Produce in White River Junction, as of a March 21 announcement. The store reopened on Friday, May 10.

The grand reopening event took place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, and the store was open again from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday for those who could not attend Friday’s festivities. Visitors had a chance to win two passes to an invite-only pre-opening event, as well.

The store was set to open earlier, on May 1, but the state inspection delayed the scheduling. The store is regularly open Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and closed on Sunday.

Recent produce selections since the reopening have included plums, golden beets, endive, radicchio, organic rainbow carrots, CT native strawberries, southern peaches, organic blueberries, organic Roma tomatoes, mandarins, coconuts, green tomatoes, watermelons, asparagus, artichokes, and peppers of many varieties. The shop also recently announced it now accepts credit cards, although cash is preferred.

The store originally opened its doors in 1985, under the ownership and management of Keith and Judy Stern. Their mission was to sample and research in order to find produce of high quality and low cost. The Sterns have since retired from the business, handing the torch over to Amanda and Jill. The store closed late last year and remained dormant until Amanda and Jill reopened the doors last month.

Stern’s Quality Produce is located at 83 Pine St. in White River Junction. For more information, frequent announcements are made on its Facebook page, @SternsQualityProduce, or you can call 802-296-2247.
