Artist Talk: Rachel Gross

Relief–Prints on Wood and Paper

Rachel Gross will discuss the work in her latest exhibition, “Relief–Prints on Wood and Paper,” on view until November 9.

Rachel Gross’ recent body of work provokes the viewer to question how their perception allows two-dimensional space to be perceived in three dimensions.

“I am interested in how the illusion of space and volume can be made by juxtaposing, shapes, colors, and textures.”

Gross, of Hartland, Vermont, holds an MFA in Printmaking from Tyler School of Art. She is an Artist Member and sits on the Board of Directors at Two Rivers Printmaking Studio. Her prints can be found in several major public collections including the Boston Public Library, The Southern Graphics Council Print Collection, the Hood Museum of Art, and the Mead Art Museum. She has had solo exhibitions at the Aidron Duckworth Art Museum, Hooloon Gallery in Philadelphia, Norwich University, and Plymouth State University. Gross has taught printmaking at the Savannah College of Art and Design, The Center for Cartoon Studies, Amherst College, and is currently teaching at Colby-Sawyer College.
